Friday, February 27th: David Feingold
6 PM to 8:30 PM

David Feingold has been a part of the Bellingham music scene dating back to the late 70s. Retiring from Western Washington University in 2022 after 40 years as Professor of Music, he developed the Classical Guitar Studies program, and also chaired the Department of Music for eight years.

David’s CD from 1993 entitled The Boardwalk, features several original tunes as well as arrangements of popular song breaking ground with his approach to the solo nylon stringed guitar. His title track incorporates “tapping’ technique in a way that had not
been used on nylon string. He also weaves improvisation through his tunes and arrangements.

David remains actively playing and enjoys sharing his music here at Bellingham’s Hotel Bellwether. If you catch him in our dining room, you’ll hear the real and literally unplugged guitar. No amplification, just fingernails on nylon string! With a basis in classical and Spanish tradition, Feingold also improvises lines through Latin, Popular Standard, the Blues and some R&B.
