BELLINGHAM IS NEW HOME TO WORLD CLASS MARATHON EVENT
Bellingham, WA, February 23, 2007- Late last summer some of the Bellingham Bay Swim Team families mulled around new ideas on how to raise funds for the team. What they did not expect was an idea to host and spearhead a marathon for the fall of 2007. With what began as simply an idea has turned into a major buzz with marathon runners within the racing community. "It's exciting to see the enthusiastic response the Bellingham Bay Marathon has generated with racers in the Northwest, around the country and in Canada" stated Steve Avery, chairperson for the marathon.
The inaugural marathon will take place on October 7, 2007 with its start and finish at The Hotel Bellwether, who took charge to be the marathon's Title Sponsor. "We are thrilled to be able to sponsor such a tremendous event for the City of Bellingham and everyone involved with it," says Jené Pascu, Sales and Marketing Director for The Hotel Bellwether. "We are very excited to see the success and enthusiasm that this race will bring to the city and its residents." The race will utilize the beautiful scenery of Bellingham which features a course along the shores of the Bay to the Interurban Trail, all while showcasing breathtaking views of the Puget Sound and the San Juan Islands.
