Location

Hotel Bellwether is located on Bellingham Bay in the Pacific Northwest city of Bellingham in Whatcom County, Washington. To the east looms the Cascade mountain range and towering Mt. Baker (10,750 ft.), the snow-capped wonder that sets the background for spectacular sunrises. To the west is Bellingham Bay and an archipelago of 172 islands, the spectacular San Juan Islands. The Old English city of Victoria, B.C., is to the west on nearby Vancouver Island, only a ferry ride away. Situated between Seattle, WA, and Vancouver, B.C., Bellingham is easily accessible and is served by Interstate 5, Bellingham International Airport, Amtrak and the Alaskan Ferry Terminal. Hotel Bellwether is only 20 miles from the U.S./Canadian border, 50 miles from Vancouver, B.C., and 90 miles north of Seattle.  Hotel Bellwether also offers ample on-site moorage for our nautical guests. Our center-pile 220 ft. dock can accommodate boats up to 150 ft in length and is float plane accessible.

From Northbound I-5

  • Exit 256A
  • Make a left onto Meridian St.
  • Turn right onto Squalicum just past railroad tracks
  • Proceed South West; Squalicum becomes Roeder Ave
  • Continue on Roeder past warehouses and marina
  • Turn right onto Bellwether Way, at the "Bellwether on the Bay" sign
  • Hotel Bellwether is at end of Bellwether Way (look for the lighthouse)

From Southbound I-5

  • Exit #256 at Meridian Street/Bellis Fair Mall
  • Make a left onto W. McLeod Road, then a right onto Meridian Street
  • Proceed over railroad tracks, then turn right onto Squalicum Parkway
  • Squalicum becomes Roeder Avenue
  • Turn right onto Bellwether Way, at the "Bellwether on the Bay" sign
  • Hotel Bellwether is at end of Bellwether Way (look for the lighthouse)

From Water:

Hotel Bellwether is situated on Bellingham Bay, Bellingham, Washington, just off Puget Sound between Seattle, WA, and Vancouver, B.C., and east of the San Juan Islands (specifically Lummi Island). Enter from the southeast end of Bellingham Bay Marina (Port of Bellingham). Hotel Bellwether's private dock is located just inside the breakwater, starboard side, across from the park. As the crow flies, our dock is 68 nautical miles north from Seattle, 39 miles south from Vancouver, B.C., and 26 miles east of Friday Harbor on San Juan Island.
